DSAG’s 17th Annual Buddy Walk®   Saturday 10/21/2017

Family Fun, Games, Food, Prizes, and Entertainment for All!

The Down Syndrome Awareness Group of Baton Rouge held its 17th Annual Buddy Walk®. The event which is free of charge was held on Saturday October 21 from 9am to 1pm. The actual walk began at 11:00am and the event took place at Healing Place Church located at 19202 Highland Road in Baton Rouge, LA. The Buddy Walk® is one of our group's most important events of the year.

Our participants along with peer buddies, families, and friends participated in a fun walk to promote awareness of and give support to people with Down syndrome. In addition, the walk helps our organization raise funds to support local educational efforts, social events, our annual conference, and operational expenses. DSAG is an affiliate of the National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS). A percentage of proceeds raised from this event go to the NDSS to help achieve its goals on behalf of people with Down syndrome.

The Buddy Walk® was developed by the National Down Syndrome Society in 1995 to celebrate Down Syndrome Awareness Month in October and to promote acceptance and inclusion of people with Down syndrome. In 2013 The Buddy Walk® had a record breaking year with more than 305,000 participants raising $12.1 million dollars in more than 250 events across the country and around the world. This remarkable event benefits local programs and services, as well as the national advocacy and public awareness initiatives of NDSS that benefit all individuals with Down syndrome. DSAG hopes you will join us in this valuable celebration!
